Our client is a growing boutique accounting firm based in Cairns that is looking to bring on a motivated Graduate or Junior Accountant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who wants hands-on exposure, mentorship, and the chance to grow within a supportive and professional environment.
While the focus is on graduate and junior-level candidates, experienced accountants or returning professionals looking for flexible working arrangements are also encouraged to apply.
 
About the Role
Working closely with an experienced team, you will assist across a range of taxation and accounting functions while developing your technical skills and industry knowledge.
This role would suit someone who:

• Has recently completed or is completing an Accounting degree
• Has some exposure to tax or public practice accounting
• Is eager to learn and develop professionally
• Enjoys working with clients and building relationships
• Wants long-term career growth within a smaller firm environment

Key Responsibilities
�� Tax & Accounting Support

• Preparation of individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns
• Assist with BAS, IAS, and financial statement preparation
• General bookkeeping and reconciliations
• Support senior accountants with client work and compliance tasks

�� Client Interaction

• Liaise with clients regarding documentation and queries
• Maintain professional communication and confidentiality
• Build positive long-term client relationships

�� Learning & Development

• Develop technical accounting and taxation knowledge
• Receive ongoing mentoring and training
• Assist with improving internal processes and workflow management

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A degree in Accounting or currently studying Accounting
• Some exposure to tax/accounting practices (preferred but not essential)
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A willingness to learn and take direction
• Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship due to the confidential nature of the role
• Full unrestricted working rights within Australia
