The maximum amount that an employee may recover if their unfair dismissal application is successful is capped at the equivalent of half the current high-income threshold, which, as of July 1st 2018, $145,400. This means the maximum amount of compensation that can be awarded is $72,700. However, this is the upper limit for compensation.
For example, an employee who earns $50,000 per annum would only be entitled to compensation of up to $25,000 if their unfair dismissal application was successful.
