    Our client, a leading National Senior Lifestyle Village provider is currently seeking a Chef/Cook for one of their village in Cairns.  

    This is a hands-on position requiring you to create and prepare lunch and a packed supper for their 70 residents. You are primarily responsible for the quality production of all meals and food services under the national guidelines as required by the village and as directed by the Village Manager/ Catering Manager.  

    In addition to this, you are responsible for all cleaning and sanitation involved in production and service and of the facilities utilised in the delivery of our catering operation with assistance of a kitchen hand.

    This is Monday through to Friday position 7am till 3pm with occasional events.   
     
    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Preparation of ingredients/menu- adherence to service times with consistency and quality of food product
    • Special diets and diet requirements including allergies/intolerances and supplements 
    • Monitoring and promoting kitchen hygiene and Food Safety practices
    • Client and Resident engagement 

    To succeed in this exciting role, you will need:

    • Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery and hold a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate advantageous
    • A passion for great food and customer service
    • Strong WHS AND HAACAP awareness
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage staff

    The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role working in Aged Care, Health or Hospitals. You will be a well presented and self-motivated individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills.
